The Loofah Diaries – part 2

Okay folks, 24 hours have past since Part 1 and now its time to start planting the seeds in a germinating medium.

You can buy little pucks of dehydrated soil that frankly look like large Haw Flakes.  The soil is packed in a small net of biodegradable fabric, so once your plants have grown past the seedling stage, they can simply be transported, soil, net and all, into a larger container.

So here is what the stuff looks like now:

Soil pucks - hydrated

I tucked the seeds just under the netting and squished soil on top of the seed.  Because I had so many loofah seeds, I doubled up the seeds on half the pucks, and left one per puck for the other half.

Make sure these gets lots of water, and then cover.  If you don’t have a container with a lid, use clingwrap 🙂

15 seed pucks!

Its’ going to take about 7 to 21 days to germinate, so hopefully in a few weeks I’ll have some more “green” pictures to share!
